GD Alliance Project:

Green Square Stormwater Drain Project

In partnership with City of Sydney Council, we’ve started to build a large 2km underground stormwater drain from Epsom Road, Zetland to the existing stormwater system at Alexandra Canal, Alexandria.

This work is part of the plan to provide stormwater services to accommodate growth and development in the Green Square area.

It’s a key part of our commitment to urban renewal and our Liveable Cities strategy.

The new storm water drain will significantly reduce flooding in and around the Green Square Town Centre during torrential rain -particularly at Joynton Avenue and on Botany Road.

Armourcon was contracted on this project working night and day in order to meet the demanding project restraints and in order toinstall the 6m deep,750mm trunk water main and associated civil works.

The excavation works for the new Sydney Water assets has been very challenging with existing utilities, redundanttram track infrastructure, tree roots and sandstone.

Many of the unknown cable and pipes discovered are not shown on any Dial Before You Dig plans, but the same positive identification excavation permit process is followed to prevent incident.

UEA, Sydney Water and Ganellen

Project: Poly Horizon Sewage & Civil Scape–Sydney

Armourcon was tasked with providing a turnkey package to UEA, SydneyWater and Ganellen for the management and installation of the lead in gravity sewer main works for GN Epping Poly Horizon development.

The works consisted of the excavation of 442 linear metres of an open cut excavated trench with ground conditions, consisting of Sydney sandstone up to depths of five meters along a densely populated and highly trafficable residential area. Works also included launch and receival shafts, where 160 linear meters of free bore tunnels were completed utilising microtunnelling technology under areas of high environmental importance.

The product pipe used onsite was a DN300 uPVC RRJ DWV pipe, both within trenched and tunnelled areas. Multiple maintenance shafts, as well as manhole structures were constructed at given points along the sewer alignment as required.

Church Road BethaniaTrunk Sewer Main HDPE

The scope of the works for this contract was the construction of 4km of DN600 Trunk Sewer pressure mains by open-trench and trenchless methods.

The scope covered the installation of all of all pipe work, fittings, structures & bulk civil works, welding, restoration, testing and commissioning.

As the area was situated within low lying flood plains the project faced high risk environmental impacts, dealing with tidal water, acidic soils, and high risk fire ant zones as well public interface.

Crab Farm Bridge Water Main

This contract was for the supply and installation of a new DN750 and DN450 Mild Steel Welded Sintacote recycled water pipeline.

The scope included the demolition of an existing Crab Farm steel bridge and associated DN450 pipes across the Coombabah Creek and the decommissioning the DN450 AC recycled water main between the bridge and the Coombabah Sewerage Treatment.

Water Main Replacements Projects

We have the experience working and managing the Water Main Replacement & Augmentation Program for Gold Coast, Logan & Redlands District.

This contract requires the design and construction of water mains varying from 63mm to 450mm diameter, lengths up to 8km and various pipe material including PE, PVC, and DICL pipe.

Our experienced design and construct team have over 15 years of onsite engineering and construction experience.

With this experience comes the ability to constantly deliver high quality & within budget design solutions that meets the needs of our clients.

New Beith Trunk Water Main

Our team have a strong working relationship with Logan Water Alliance which comprises of Downer, Cardno, Parson Brickerhoff & Logan City Council.

The large number of projects delivered by our management team such as, water mains, pump stations, sewer rising & gravity mains ranging from 100mm to 600mm in diameter.

The New Beith Trunk Water Main consisted of the constriction of 3.6km of 600mm DICL Water Main including 4 x concrete cast in-situ pits & installation of flowmeters & PRV’s.

Throughout the pipeline hard sandstone was present, however using the Vermeer Rock Trencher NTS were able to lay up to 250m a day.

The project involved construction of a 13m deep,4m diameter Sewer Pump Station including the civil, mechanical and electrical works.

It also involved construction of Rising Main consisting of DN300 DICL, 355 OD PE by open trenching & 2 Horizontal Directional Drills for a total of 3.6km. Construction of400m of DN375 PVC Gravity Main & 5 x 1200 to 1500 dia MH’s up to 7m depth by open trenching & 1 x Thrust Bore.

Throughout the project various obstacles were in counted which included acid sulphate soils, high water table, floods, 2 x creek crossings, fire ant zone and rock.
